Hypothesis

When questioned about the cause of the wind and the reason for differing wind strengths or intensities, few individual responses would approach the scientific facts.

After reviewing the documented research, a secondary aim was to look for some pattern of common misconceptions in relation to age and a comparison with some of the findings of the research in terms of interpretations, for example religious explanations in very young children. From our own recall of instruction in an educational setting, we felt that people would be more likely to be able to give examples of the effects of wind rather than the cause.
